We are Making a Difference! In February at the
AILACTE Annual meeting, I graciously accepted the duties of President
of this association. I believe in the mission of this association
which is to support and position the role of liberal arts teacher
education programs at the national level. As the federal government
scrutinizes teacher education programs, I want AILACTE to have
a strong, united voice about teacher preparation and producing
candidates of quality that are making a difference in the P-12
arena. Our voice can only be united when we maximize the membership
in this association. I appreciate those consistent members who
have been with us since the beginning. They recognize that representation
in this association enables them to speak freely about issues
that concern their institutions and that through attendance at
the annual meeting, submitting scholarly articles to the journal,
and networking with other members, they can make a difference
in teacher education. I look forward to working for the next two
years in an association that I believe is a part of the solution
when it comes to teacher education. I appreciate your support
of my presidency and I envision a productive partnership. -Dwight
